If you immediately thought of the Camp Rock 2 song when reading the title, you’re in the right spot.

I know I have a bio on this site, but it can only be so long before your readers say “OKAY ENOUGH I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHERE YOU WENT TO COLLEGE!” But this introductory post is a more personal way to say hello and what the heck this blog is about. So let’s jump in…

Who Am I?

First things first, my name is Mallory and I’m so stoked to meet you! As of the publication of this piece, I am 21 years old and living in the great state of Texas (yeehaw). I am currently a junior at West Texas A&M University pursuing my degree in public relations, advertising, and applied communication. After I earn that sweet sweet bachelors, I would love to start working in social media management or entertainment PR. The end goal is to work for the Walt Disney Company in some PR way, but that’s a topic for another day.

When I'm not working or studying, some of my hobbies include journaling, sharing memes on my social media, watching movies, and quoting sit-coms and stand-up comedy. I am also an advocate for raising awareness and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health issues, especially in young adults like myself. My sign is cancer, I'm an enneagram type 6, and an ISFJ Myers Briggs type. Also, my favorite color is pink.

No that was not directly from my bio page…yes it was. When it’s good, why change it? Moving forward…

What’s the Meaning of This?

I mentioned earlier that I’m an advocate for mental health, especially in young adults. One of my biggest coping mechanisms when I’m going through a depressive episode or an anxiety spiral, is the feel the need to write. Write about anything and everything like I’m running out of time (shoutout to my man Lin Manuel Miranda). BUT there’s one thing that stops me dead in my tracks: fear.

Fear that my work won’t be good, or misinterpreted, or even criticized. And that fear stops me from wanting anyone to see my creations. So I’m swallowing my fear, and putting my work on blast for everyone to see. This blog will serve as my creative sounding board for when the only thing for me to do is blurt all my thoughts down and then structure them to help me make sense of a situation. And this can help me gain some motivation to leave my bed at 2 p.m. while the only thing I’m able to do is watch TikToks for 5 hours. Plus, what I have to say MIGHT HELP SOMEONE.

How Can I Help You?

Okay maybe not you specifically, but you in the hypothetical sense. I am in no way, shape, or form a mental health professional, and I cannot give you any medical advice in regards to your situation. If you really do need help, please seek out a local mental health professional. But what I can do is let you know that you’re not alone. Recently in therapy, I’ve been working through my issues with vulnerability. Frankly, vulnerability has hurt me many time in the past, and it sure as hell isn’t easy. But with that hurt, there also comes healing. Being vulnerable makes you brave, even if you feel like you’re about to vomit and poop your pants simultaneously (or maybe that’s just me). Vulnerability also opens the door to conversations and comfort in knowing it’s not just you. And if I’m that person to make you feel less alone, then I’d be honored to help.

Now…that’s a lot. Thank you for getting this far, I have a hard time keeping things brief. I hope you stick around for more very soon. Of course I won’t be blasting my every conscious thought here, if you want that you can follow me on Twitter. I just want to be as honest as possible, as well as have a creative soundboard for my own wellbeing.

And proficiency in blog writing is a skill I can add on my resume for when I apply for those big girl jobs. SCORE!
